Lenovo P700 is Dual SIM, runs Ice Cream Sandwich, 4-inch screen, sells for PHP 10,999

EDIT II: Lenovo has officially announced the P700i which will also sell for PHP 10,999.00

EDIT: If you want a 5″ Lenovo phablet that competes with the Samsung Galaxy Note, the new Lenovo S880 sells for PHP14,999 only. It’s also dual SIM!

Lenovo is on a roll. First, they upped the bar of the PHP 5,000 thereabouts smartphone by introducing the dual SIM A65 Android device. Today, they are selling a powerful Android device that comes with a big 4″ screen and a long-lasting 2500mAh battery. This is by far the most impressive package we’ve seen for a mid-ranged Android device with all the latest updates that’s only a little over PHP 10,000. Plus, it’s dual SIM.

We have a unit with us so expect a more in-depth review. This phone is being sold in stalls starting today.

Key Features:

● Dual SIM, Dual Standby
● Android OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
● 4.0 inches IPS-LCD Capacitive Multi-Touchscreen
● WVGA 800×480 pixels, 16M colour display
● 3G / HSPA Technology

PowerMat for iPhone 4s sells for PHP 3,490.00

I want to make something clear: the PowerMat is not a portable charging solution like the BoostCase or any other portable battery packs you find in the market. Many people seem to misconstrue its function, most likely due to the wording of the product — it has the word “Power” in it.

So what is it? The PowerMat ecosystem allows you to charge your devices (almost) without the need of a cable. I keep a PowerMat charging system for my iPhone at home and a wider PowerMat system for Android / iPhone in the office. Buying into this ecosystem implies a mindset that you will need to dock your phone in places you frequent to keep your gadgets fully charged. Since the docks don’t require cables, dropping your gadgets into these “outlets” are second nature.

Now assume everyone in the office or in your household had an Android device, a BlackBerry or an iPhone. Everyone could simply share one or two PowerMats to keep their devices charged.

Pricing:

PowerMat with Powercube PHP 3,990.00
PowerMat for iPhone 4/4s PHP 3,490.00

Incase Sonic Over Ear Headphones has great quality, priced PHP 8,990.00

Here’s a little gem that may have gone unnoticed. For those familiar with everything 3rd party Apple, Incase isn’t known for making audio accessories. In fact, if you scroll down their website, their headphones and earphones are pushed down way below their casings for other Apple products. I actually had no idea they made headphones and that they were even being sold here in the Philippines. So I managed to bag their high end model (Sonic Over Ear headphones)from their distributor and take it for a spin with several games of Diablo III. Here goes nothing:

And now a short one on Google Glass

There was a brilliant article written a couple of weeks ago illustrating how in the near future (meaning the next 2 years) there will be two kinds of photos — the (1) photos that capture events and the photos that (2) capture what you actually see:

Imagine actors and athletes doing what they do today on Twitter—sharing their adventures from a first-person POV—except doing it with Glass.

And that’s how Facebook would differentiate with Glass. One gives you a summary while the other freezes a moment. In a way, Glass is like a visual Twitter.

——————

On something completely different, people have asked if Glass will eat into the sales of GoPro? That’s assuming that Google successfully launches this product in the next 12-24 months and they manage to bring the price down to something consumer-friendly. As of late, it’s pegged at USD $1,500.00.

Looking at the tech, it might be easy to assume that these GoPro headsets will go the way of the pager, as the more advanced Glass technology relegates the core functions of a GoPro. But because Glass is so delicate, whereas GoPro cameras are built to rate in “extreme” environments, this may push the latter to focus on these types of active lifestyles such as SCUBA diving (GoPro cameras have o-rings… the sheer pressure would crush Glass).

Future just got a bit more exciting.
