There are times when I wished I had the proper credit card during promo season. Some cards have great promos for gadget sales while others have amazing 0% interest sales on plane tickets during travel fairs. The pain point, which I am sure is echoed by other consumers, is that I often do not have the credit card that matches the promo and have to wait for one for my bank.
Until now.
I’ve been very open about how much of a fan I am of Maya’s industry-disrupting financial products: from the boosted Maya savings to the Maya Black credit card that allow me to customize my security settings (and grab airport lounge access!). Now, Maya has introduced Maya Mini Payments, a new method to convert your large purchases into smaller, more accessible payments in 3, 6, 9, 12 month terms.

At its core, this is a highly efficient cash flow management tool built directly into their app. It takes the heavy, localized impact of a large purchase and distributes that financial tension over time. That’s a huge game changer because it gives you more control over how you pay. Regardless of where you made the purchase, you can convert eligible transactions into manageable monthly payments at a fixed 1% monthly interest rate.
Everything is a promo
Historically, converting a straight swipe into an installment plan was an agonizing grind. From experience it required calling the bank while waiting for the cashier to confirm a 0% purchase conversion and at times this can take up to 30 minutes, which is a huge downer when you’re already at the cashier trying to make a payment.
Well, Maya has distilled this pain point and turned it into an engineering marvel of UI simplicity. No calls, no forms, no branch visits.
It works entirely in-app and gives you two avenues of approach. You can either select an individual transaction receipt right after it posts, or you can look at your consolidated monthly statement and batch-select multiple purchases. You tap “Convert to Mini Payments,” choose the damage, and pick your mitigation strategy: 3, 6, 9, or 12 months.
I recently got to try using the Mini Payments feature while checking my April credit card bill on the app. My bulk purchase was from Lazada – I had to restock on C02 charger capsules to make soda water at home. Short story: about a decade ago I gave up soft drinks because I knew the artificial sweeteners were not good for me. My family has a history of diabetes, so I decided to switch to drinking soda water. Zero calories, no sweetener. It’s just water with fizz. I started buying chargers off Lazada where one piece, roughly P20.00 makes one liter of soda water. So you can see how much bulk buying gets me – having Mini Payments enabled helps spread out the 100 pieces of C02 chargers across one quarter.

Maya Mini Payments automatically distributes the cost across three months (the option available so far) with zero service fees. So as not to forget, I can name my Mini Payment for budget purposes.

Total merchant independence!
Maya doesn’t care if you bought a new camera rig at a boutique authorized reseller, booked an emergency flight online, or paid for a sudden car repair. If the transaction is eligible and posted, you can convert up to 90% of your available credit limit into easily digestible chunks. It’s great to spread out your finances and quite honestly opens up a lot more possibilities in loosening your budget belt by just a bit, especially in these uncertain economic times.
For me, the real value isn’t chasing the next installment promo. It’s having the flexibility to decide how I want to manage a purchase after I’ve already made it. With a fixed 1% monthly interest rate and a clear breakdown shown in the app, Mini Payments gives me something arguably more important than a promo: breathing room.
The Verdict
In the current Tier List of fintech utilities, Maya Mini Payments comfortably secures an S-Tier spot for sheer practicality. Because it works on a Maya credit card, it means that apart from the regular perks of a Landers membership and cashback with the Landers Cashback Everywhere Credit Cardor airport lounge access and instant Maya Miles with Maya Black, you get to convert all your purchases – from groceries or purchases from other countries – into manageable mini payments.
So here’s the deal – let’s go win-win with Maya Black. When you apply for a Maya Black credit card, enter my username @jayveef in the “Got a referral code?” prompt when you sign up via the app. If you get approved, you automatically receive 1,000 Maya Miles to jump-start your earnings! I’ve been using Maya Black since day 1 when it launched, and I can really say that this card to app integration has been my EDC whenever I travel or just swiping at a local mall.
The Maya Mini Payments referral promo runs till July 31, 2026.
