New Tagaytay finds: The Brickseum in Amadeo

Everything is awesome in Tagaytay! I had the chance to visit the private launch of The Brickseum, a project of Randy and Thea Protacio. I met Randy a number of years ago before the pandemic in my previous work at Manila Bulletin. As my boss also had a huge LEGO collection at the Intramuros office, I would engage regularly with the local LEGO community (PH LUG or LEGO User Group) as well as with Randy.

If you’ve been to LEGO events around the metro, it would be common to see huge brick dioramas donated by Randy and his friends. The Brickseum is, I would like to say, a “final resting place” for all of his family’s creations.

The Brickseum is not an official LEGO display, but community driven with the Philippine chapter of the LUG, composed of LEGO enthusiasts, AFOLS (adult fans of LEGOs), and their families.

The Brickseum houses several dioramas highlighting famous Philippine landmarks like the RCBC Towers in Makati, the Philippine Post Office, the Manila Cathedral, Luneta Park, and more. It also houses a brief history of LEGO with sets from the 1980’s (and even before!).

To highlight the Philippine contributions to LEGO, there are also sets on display by Lendy Tayag and Ivan Guerrero who made the Voltron and Sesame Street sets respectively.

According to Randy, the compound will house a cafe and events venue. There is also a store that sells Brickseum merch as well as rare sets that are currently priced according to Ebay rates.

The Brickseum opens October 26 2025, and will be open on weekends initially.
