Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2 LAN Party

p1030787

Ah the good ol’ days. All computers were running the Steam client and the choice picks for the day were Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2. Back 5 years ago it made more sense to build your own PC, which I did with much enthusiasm. Oh the times! With less time on hand to tweak stuff, it makes more sense to buy branded desktops as they cost the same, most times cheaper than building your own rig and the specs are pretty wicked. I mean look, back 6 years ago, people would have to spend an arm and a leg for a 7 channel HD audio card. Today, it comes bundled with the motherboard! Choose original!

Rico’s Gaming Rig:
Intel E7300 Motherboard
2GB DDR2 RAM 800MHz
GeForce 9500 GT

My ACER System:
2GB DDR2 RAM
GeForce 8500 GT 512MB

Our wicked gaming server:
Intel Core i7 2.66 GHz
3GB DDR3 RAM
GeForce 9800 GT 512MB

Added the MacBook running Windows 7 for effect.

Ton just got his new system yesterday and he’s running the following specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB DDR2
GeForce 120GT 512MB *
320GB HD
*interesting renaming scheme as the 120GT is also a GeForce 9500 GT

How much does a packaged machine like Ton’s cost nowadays?

P34,000 from Columbia. Comes with a wifi card, speakers, 19 inch monitor, keyboard, mouse. It’s the standard ACER package.

wow thanks for the specs. I’m planning to buy a new rig and return to gaming.

More detailed specs (and it’s not an HP machine!):

    Intel Core 2 Duo E7300
    Asus P5KPL-AM
    2GB DDR2 800MHz
    NVIDIA 9500 GT 512MB
    320GB Seagate ST3320613AS

Got it from PC Express for ~P20,000. My display (an HP w2228h) is probably worth ~P13,000 now.
