A lot of people have been asking what exactly is SEO? To which I will have to answer … No one knows the true secrets behind SEO. It is just like MI:6 and Area 51. If people were able to open up the Pandora’s Box of SEO, then all hell will break lose. That is why SEO II goes in tandem with the Beercon Oktoberfest celebration: what happens in SEOPH II stays in SEOPH II!. In the morning, people will be too stoned to have remembered what happened the previous night.
Personally, it’s another excuse for me to meet up with friends and talk about geeky things and chismis.
Dove has launched the second Campaign for Real Beauty in the Philippine Islands using a website which is located at campaignforrealbeauty.ph. Last year’s campaign (the one with the billboards that you could text to vote) won an international acclaim thanks to the Ogilvy PR Agency. Yay for Ogilvy PH!
Fast Fact: Only 5% of Filipina women consider themselves to be beautiful. The 95% don’t. Reasons usually have to do with social taboos, media, and emotional childhood scars.
What I especially found interesting was that you could grab Real Beauty badges and post them on your website using the site generated code. What I also found interesting was that ladies could submit inspiring stories about how they overcame “aesthetic hurdles” to become who they are now. Personal friends are in it too – Pam Pastor from Inquirer and Mia Sebastian (see pic!) from my college.
I wonder if a similar campaign were launched, but for men. Of course, that would be really gay, but then I realize that something like that will never happen since women really go for men because they are nice and gentleman-like … Not about looks, am I right? 🙂
Note – Maybe it would have been better for the campaign to have an assortment of smaller badges to choose from. The default badge is quite huge, occupying the usual 400-width blog entry space. The badge is also automatically centered.
Wow, what a trip! (as if it was really that far away)
Thanks to everyone who came and spread the link love. I hope everyone enjoyed the evening as well as the short presentations given by the guest speakers. Thank you Globe Innove for the sponsorship!
I want to apologize for two things though.
First, the “autograph signing” thing was actually supposed to be similar to the barnyard shoepile game where we have a list of all the blogs and people match the bloggers with their respective URLs.
Second, the podcast we recorded is corrupt. Something unknown to my geeky powers corrupted the audio file as it was being compressed in GarageBand. The file is lost forever! How tragic. How irresponsible. So so sorry about that.
There were some people I really wanted to talk to (especially the famous Jac Ting Lim!) but everyone was, as we all experienced, overwhelmed with the first meetup. I think we have plans of doing this every quarter so expect a Blogger Kris Kringle this Christmas.
I will be posting pictures soon (actually check out Rico’s blog because he downloaded all of my pictures into his computer…). In the meantime ….
BlogCon 2006 from the point of view of SOME of the attendees:
We’re doing a short program for the BlogCon 2006 event this coming Monday. If you are interested in attending, do sign up here. It is free and sure to be a fun event.
I’ll be bringing my studio quality microphone which I borrowed from HIT Studio’s Vic Icasas. I want to see how well the microphone picks up a room of more than 40 bloggers.
There will be a wireless connection available during the event so feel free to bring your WiFi also. There will also be a short program durng the event. More on this later.
Got word from Jenny of Globe that we are good to go for the first Philippine BlogCon. Event details are here. The event is sponsored by Globe Innove.
This event is open to all Filipino bloggers, for free! If you are a shy blogger and think you won’t fit in, then that’s absolutely preposterous because all of us are actually very shy too.
National Sports Grill is covered by the wireless net of Globe so we might be able to do some liveblogging with great pics during the event.
It would be nice if you left a comment to say that you’re going too so we more or less have a head count of the total blogger load for the night.
Please spread the word to everyone. Be part of Philippine Internet history!
