m|ph: tech to go!

I wrote the press release for the PDI Lifestyle section. It goes something like this …

m|ph, the most visible home-grown magazine on mobile technology starts the year with a fresh new look, giving readers a taste of what’s new in the mobile tech scene for 2006.

To celebrate a fresh start, m|ph goes vegan with the stunning Isabel Roces who graces the front cover. Isabel talks about her PETA advocacy, the gadgets she owns, and gives some words of advice on how to guard from gadget lust. This issue also contains reviews of the latest phones, namely the Nokia 6111 for the ladies, the shaver-shaped Nokia 6270 and the Sony Ericsson W550i Walkman phone. If you happen to own an iPod, the magazine also features a showdown of the best iPod-docking speakers available in town. Since gadgets are only as good as the people who use them, this issue features two mavens in their respective industries, the iconic Joey Alarilla of Hackenslash.net and Denise Albert, who sets the marketing and events industry on fire with her passionate words.

m|ph, which stands for Mobile Philippines, is a monthly publication geared towards the Filipino who is always on the go. Faithful readers have always described the magazine as the most informative and engaging among all the technology magazines because it is smart, engaging and witty. m|ph is available at all news stands and technology hubs for just P80.00 per issue.

Wellness is happiness

My friend Raphy wanted me to plug this for like, forever. In return I earn billions in royalties. You see, Raphy is a bit weird, that’s why he sells wellness products!

But seriously, if you are experiencing aches and body pains (love life not included), you may want to give him a call.

Lately things are quite hectic. Hectic work schedules, hectic activities, and so on. And these hectic things have led to pains, or sicknessses. And let’s face it, it’s quite hard to go about our work when we’re not in the best working condition. Furthermore, it’s quite hard to skip work just to rest our bodies for fear of backlog in pendings.

And so, health is now accompanied with another word: Wellness. Don’t let those nagging colds, flu, or body pains stop your from being productive. Now you can repel them and eventually make your body better.

Sounds good? How does it work? Well, I’m inviting you to a product demo this weekend. I’d like to share the wellness experience with you, and that the products that you might see may be able to make you happier, more productive and (so to speak), well. 🙂

If you have any more questions about this, just feel free to email me back through this address or at [email protected] or [email protected]. Also feel free to text me about this at (0917)8177274 (Please introduce yourself over text, my phonebook isn’t fully updated.

what’s in a name?

So I was browsing Nenzie’s blog and found the “find the meaning behind your name” page. It’s freaky because 100% of everything written down was true. Freaky beans!

* The name of Jose-Maria-Vicente creates an overly-sensitive nature which causes you to sense and feel far more than you can understand or put into words. (Holy … omg. How true. Which is why I have a hard time expressing myself.)

* You have a deep, artistic, and creative side which shows through a love for music and literature. (My theater friends have been asking me back to direct plays. Paul Dumol likes my work. I play guitar. I read books. I compose music.)

* Writing is a more natural mode of expression for your deeper thoughts and feelings than the spoken word. (I write for 6 blogs and several magazines. Nuff said!)

* You have an ability to concentrate and work intently on anything which holds your interest. (When I really want something, I get it quickly. Those of you who know me professionally and personally may testify to this.)

* However, you prefer to avoid routine, monotony, and mental tasks. (Which is why I hate jobs that confine me to the desk and following a strict schedule.)

* Although the name Jose-Maria-Vicente creates an active mind and a restless urge to explore new ideas, we emphasize that it limits self-expression and friendly congeniality with a moody disposition. (My friend Jed told me once that I wear my heart on my sleeve. This was the first time someone ever told it to me because I guess I could never admit it to myself.)

* This name, when combined with the last name, can frustrate happiness, contentment, and success, as well as cause health weaknesses in the solar plexus, heart, lungs and bronchial area. (Holy cow, I have several types of allergies and asthma. This name thing is freaky.)

The Blog Herald sale makes INQ7

This is so weird. Our sister company, INQ7 did an interview with Duncan Riley, who is part owner of b5media, another company I work for. Duncan is from Australia. INQ7 is in Makati.

So weird. It further proves the six degrees of separation thing.
