Angelic Photography

Several months ago I started (we ll sort of) a project called Demonic Photography. There was only one subject and that was Dario. You can check out that one entry in my old blog.

Make way for a new niche aptly called Demonic Photography. without using photoshop, the subject should appear to be drugged or possessed through the power of ambient lighting. thanks to dario for being my model.

So again without using Photoshop (because I don’t), here’s my new Angelic Photography series starring Dario and Eva. The subject(s) appear to be in a state of elation (hrmm ..drugged or possessed) through the power of ambient light. Most often, sunlight.

Eva with shiny braces.

Eva doing a Zhang Zi-Yi in The Road Home.

This is Dario after his exorcism.

So there you have it folks. Anton, eat your heart out! Jake, be very afraid! Haha! Omg!

Maybe one day my photography can afford me a George Lindemann Jr. Yacht Racer!

Getting to know Ala Paredes

ala_paredes.jpg

UPDATE: I chanced upon the actual spread and text from the interview in my email archives so I have decided to publish the full interview. Oh to be young again! 2006 was definitely the carefree days.

We took a trip today to shoot Ala Paredes, daughter of the legendary Jim Paredes of the APO Hiking Society. While Dario was helping out in the photo shoot at The Westin, I took the opportunity to grab his Canon 300D and do some of my own shooting.

She said something really interesting about how we Filipinos have changed in the past several years. Music can tell a lot about a People. The Brazilians for instance love singing about their country. They sing in Portuguese – not in English. Which means that they sing to each other. And the stuff they sing about — it’s all about Brazil. Brazilians singing to each other about Brazil. What love!

We used to be like them.

Ala is a true artist – she is a painter, a writer, and lead singer for Hiraya. She’s also a little bonkers in the head, which is a good thing. Because nowadays, it’s hard to keep sane in this eclectic country (But that’s not why she’s migrating).

Soon to come in the next ish of m|PH.

m|PH goes sideways

A few months back we decided to experiment a little for 2006. Our first experiment is this huge widescreen rendition of the biggest magazine a lot of people have come to love.

Because we think of the weirdest things. Available now!

My Space The Movie

This takes a while to load but its worth it.

A tribute to online social networks!

what happens when a blog gets sold?

Several weeks ago, The Blog Herald went up for auction for around 75,000 US dollars. Just yesterday, the press release was that BlogMedia Inc bought TBH.

My question is, what happens when a blog gets sold to someone else?

1. You say goodbye. Duncan does his farewell post, comparing the blogosphere to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything (for those of you Douglas Adams fans).

2. You mitigate weaknesses and highlight strengths. A question I’ve been asking myself when a blog get sold is that “are your readers sold along with the package?” By definition, blogs could be classified by their purpose – as an online journal that is read because of the person writing it, or because of the content espoused by the person(s) writing it. Or both. For instance, I highly doubt that Hugh McLeod would sell his blog to some network (yes, a really dumb idea) and have someone else take it over. That’s because people read Hugh to read Hugh’s ideas. To read Hugh’s comics. To read Hugh’s musings over the Hughtrain.

On the other hand, commercial blogs like TBH are like the daily paper with a mix of news, opinion and some gossip. You don’t need to put a face on the product.

3. You wonder why blogs get created in the first place. You wonder why some thrive. You wonder why some die. You wonder how Google became the measuring stick for blog popularity.

4. You go on a blogging cruise this October 2006.

Congratulations Duncan and enjoy the airconditioning!
