Around the World in One Camera

The Around the World in One Camera Project needs your help! They still need 2 – 3 more participants preferably from Africa.

The whole idea is to create a photo album from images taken by 36 people from around the world using the same “travelling” camera and a single roll of film. Every participant will receive the camera by mail along with a notebook. Using that camera the participant will take a photograph of anything he or she wants and will have to submit a short note, explaining his or her choice of what has been photographed. When it’s done, the camera will be sent to the next participant. The whole process will be repeated until the roll is done.

If you found it interesting and you’d like to be one of the album creators, let me know. If you found it interesting but you cannot or don’t want to be a part of it you can always follow the story in this blog. Every participant will automatically become an author of the blog.

Have you started Christmas shopping?

I’ve been making my list (and checking it twice) and composed a smile whilst I realized how the list gets longer and longer every year.

I remember something Gail mentioned a few posts back that the true “rewards” of blogging aren’t the AdSense cheques or Xoom transactions, but the many sorts of ties we form, from cyberspace link building to real-life community building.

On a related note, anyone up for a blogger Christmas parteh?

A “Boy and His Blog” at 26

The title up there was actually my second choice for the title of this blog but in the end, A Bugged Life” had to reign because I felt that there should be some sort of continuity from my old blog which was hosted on a free UK server. Even Rico agreed that I keep the name for “branding” purposes.

Domain registration reminder came in a few days ago, reminding me that it was about time I renew this blog. I think the more years you pay for your domain, Google puts more value into it because it knows you’re in it for the long haul.. short SEO trick there. Also another sign that it has been a year since I’ve kept this up. I remember that this domain was a birthday gift to myself (that’s today, and I’m 26!). How time flies.

[random thought] Wow, 26. That’s the age my dad got married.A few days ago, I found out that a friend of mine is getting married (congratulations jenny!). And yesterday, two others got engaged (grats to Raphy and Lorena!). [/random thought]

Today marks my 405th post (glad that it wasn’t less than 365). My 26th year of existence and my first month that I actually made money from TLA on this blog. (EDIT: I just realized I counted wrong … I only have about 250+ posts)

1,000+ songs to listen to while blogging

I actually found this site courtesy of my dad who’s been obsessed with YouTube for the past several weeks. The site basically plays a selection from the top 100 songs people loved from 1955 to 1982.

As for copyright stuff, well, gee… I don’t know. Point is, it’s good music. What’s interesting to note is to listen to how our listening has evolved by listening to around five or six songs from each year. This is a social commentary of the worldwide pop culture in the last three decades. Pardon the site, it isn’t Web 2.0-ish at all. But then again, its all about the content, eh?

Speedlinking: November 2 2006

  • Please join me in welcoming Anne to the world of problogging. She has been blogging over at her private Livejournal (link withheld) for quite some time now and now takes over a team blog at Stylish.ca. She talks about everything fashionable and stylish (are these two different things?). Welcome Anne, another Filipina problogger!

  • Adel has shown us a plugin for Firefox (it works with v2.0) that emulates how the Safari browser for the Mac loads web pages in the URL field.

  • Jason talks about two podcasts he loves to listen to – Grammar Girl and The Word Nerds. I myself listen to TWN (thanks Jason!) whenever I get the chance.
