With the upcoming Hobbit movie fast approaching international cinemas, Air New Zealand decided to theme their pre-take off safety video with a LOTR-theme. The Hobbit premieres in New Zealand this November 28 2012.
Air New Zealand partnered with WETA Workshop on a brand new Hobbit inspired Safety Video. It features cameo appearances including Sir Peter Jackson.

Me: We need to gas up at Shell. They have a promo.
Wife: What promo?
Me: They have LEGO cars if you put gas.
Wife: Haynako.
Me: Would you rather I do drugs?
(driving after several minutes to Shell)
Wife: Ang tagal! mag drugs ka na lang!
I rarely give in to marketing promos. Caltex is my usual choice for gasoline, well, just because. But this move of Shell to allow you to buy one of six Ferrari LEGO cars (and a set of Minifigs) if you spend an accumulated amount of PHP 1,500 was too strong to resist.
So here’s how the promo goes:
– you need to spend an accumulated amount of PHP 1,500 to buy one Ferrari LEGO car. So if you spend, say PHP 3,000 on gas you can buy two. if you have two receipts worth PHP 750 each, you can buy one car.
– the receipts should only come from one Shell branch. You can’t combine receipts from different branches. This also means that you can only claim the LEGO Ferrari car / Minifigs from the same branch at the convenience store counter.
– the cars and Minifigs (it’s a set of 3) cost PHP 180.00. If you load up on V-Power, cost shoots down to PHP 140.00
This is it — the conclusion to 5 years of work culminates and ends here. The Philippines received its copies earlier than the rest of the western world, which is historically speaking, something that’s not very strange as we tend to get copies of other games earlier. And that’s a good thing.

Is this for real? Has anyone seen these being sold in Shell stations? Apparently Shell has partnered with LEGO for the next series of Ferrari car collectibles. I usually ignore promos like this but the fact that this edition is made by LEGO brings forth a whole new level of geek-awesome.
The link is from a .PH Shell website so it must be true. It must be (!!!)
We’ve already heard of wireless charging with accessories like the Powermat and the out-of-the-box Nokia Lumia 920 with its “pillow charger” but this is the first Android device to be released with this feature. The induction coil chargers are not as efficient as the regular USB-to-wall chargers but they’re still hella cool to watch. There will come a day, of course, when these charging plates will be a mainstay in every home, which means, like, your work desk is also a huge charger.
