UPDATE:
Dropped by SMART this afternoon to meet up with Louie. On the latest list of things to study would be the highly anticipated 701, the first of the Netphone smartphones. Exciting! Back in February, I was able to play with a pre-alpha release. This is the real thing and it comes in a nice box reminiscent of how I loved unboxing G.I. Joe toys as a kid. As I still need to charge the phone and get some much needed sleep here’s a little unboxing for you after the jump.
The Netphone 701 is the debut Netphone that will be officially launched in September 1 2011. Powered by SMART.
The package:
Netphone 701
2GB microSD card
1250mAh battery
USB cable
USB adapter wall socket
Quick Start Guide
Earphones
Specs:
Android Froyo 2.2 (with SMARTNET)
ARM11 600MHZ Processor
150 MB storage, 512 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM
LCD capacitive touchscreen, 256K colors
480 x 800 pixels, 3.5 inches
3.2MP camera
The packaging comes with an easy to understand step-by-step on how to configure SMARTNET, the ecosystem that makes Netphone epic. In a nutshell it’s quite similar to how you sign in to your Google Account on Android. It goes without saying that the Netphone runs on Android, so essentially it’s a decent Android device with useful features added by SMART. I’ll go through SMARTNET in my succeeding posts.
The Netphone 701 comes with a 2GB microSD card.
O, how’s my 60mm macro lens?
Powered by SMART.
Super extraordinary.

Will definitely wait for the detailed review π
do they neeed tester too ΓΒΌ im interested
It seems to have some sort of similarities in terms of looks with the Google Nexus One (atleast from the pictures)
in terms of build it is a ZTE Blade unit with a Qualcomm processor and then embedded with Smart’s home grown services.
wow definitely will get this… been waiting for this since the news came out. will gladly switch back to smart ^_^
Nice! Anyway, to share my story, my first colored phone is the 1st version of Smart Amazing Phone which came out with a Smart (Addict Mobile) Plan 800. It runs on Windows mobile and it was the first time where I get to play with applications on my phone. I even learned how to flash it making it open line, kaso it pretty much backfired kasi after so many successful flashes, I had one failed flash and it pretty much ruined its board, and so I was left with “dead” phone. Nevertheless, I did had a great memorable 2+ years with it so okay lang.
nice phone,
