Why buy local? Because as you may already know, SONY Philippines brings in official support for the Playstation 4. Unlike the XBOX One which is not officially supported by Microsoft in the Philippines (if it breaks, you’re looking at 3rd party warranty), SONY has service centers scattered around the country to aid you in case you accidentally brick your console. So buy local = 1st party warranty! There’s no better choice! To quote the fine print:
Starting from January 14, 2014, SCEH will have a new plan on the warranty service for 6 South East Asian countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Customers who purchase PS4 / PS Vita TV are entitled to a ONE YEAR FREE REGIONAL REPAIR SERVICE in countries where the product has been officially launched (including Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia), and the warranty will be valid throughout these countries. Wherever the customers are, they can also have the repair service for their products.
Playstation 4 PHP 24,999
Playstation 4 w/ Camera PHP 26,999
Playstation 4 w/ Killzone 4 PHP 26,899
Playstation 4 w/ Battlefield 4 PHP 27,399
The bundles come with the console, mono headset, and Dualshock 4 controller.
Am I getting one? Well, I promised myself that (1) I’ll wait for the first global price drop and (2) I’m still swimming in games thanks to my US PS+ account for my Vita and PS3. If you’re getting one, I highly suggest creating a US Playstation Plus account so you get free games every month + multiplayer. For the PS4 I believe the freebies include Resogun and Contrast as free launch titles for PSN.
For more details about the pre-order mechanics, check out their official page.
On a similar note, Sony PH will also be making the PS Vita TV add on available on January 15 2014. The system will cost PHP 5,999. If you buy it with a bundled Dualshock 3 Controller (PS3 controller), you’ll have to pay an upfront of PHP 8,599.
