Revenge is best served with a touch screen.

I knew it! I don’t know how it felt for those who bought non-working iPhones to have Apple slap them in the face. Sure, you may say, they all work now because of some unlocking mechanism but knowing Apple, the price to pay for having an iPhone in Asia is high – about 0 higher than the iPod touch and with that dwindling premonition that Apple may not even entertain the warranty on iPhones released in Asia (this is easily checked via the Apple Product Serial Number – those unique to the West and those unique to Asian release).

I reserved my iPod touch a few seconds ago. 🙂

My educated guess: The Apple iPhone will ship in the Philippines between December 2007 and February 2008. It will come with a suggested retail price of P40,000. Note that even with the price drop, this does not necessarily mean the price in the Philippines will change as the drop only applies to buying the unit with a two year contract subsidized with AT&T. If we follow correct pricing, the iPod touch will retail for roughly P17,000.00 to P20,000.00 for the 8GB model bringing down the price of the current line of iPods. Now is the perfect time to buy the “classic” iPod you always wanted, whether it be the nano, touch, or iPod 4th gen.

UPDATE: The cheapest 8GB iPod touch sells for P16,500.00 in the Philippines.

However, if we follow the Holiday price slash of the iPhone (which I highly doubt), then it would merely cost around P 19000 😀 and I do hope they consider doing this coz in the long run, this will greatly help Apple sell the iPhone in Asia and of course make us gadget freaks really happy 🙂

Jayvs, if you want one sooner, let me know. They will be available here in Germany on the 28th of September. I will be flying home for Xmas. You can pay me when I get there. Just mail me, if you want one sooner.

Hey Jayvee,
sorry I cant share the same enthusiasm.. that little iPod Touch looks a tad bit too fragile and with all that screen, probably a smudge magnet too.
Comes off as an overrated portable media player to me.

Ok, ok… a very nice-looking portable media player-lar!

I have heard from a friend who’s sister lives in the US that the iPhone has dropped its price in some of the stores. they say that it is now around $200 to $300 (my friend said that the original price is around $500??)… dunno if it’s true though. 😛

The iPod Touch looks so cute! 😀

my friend from the US got $100 credit and she’ll be using it to buy herself a red ipod nano.

to quote her blog:
$100 credit to early iPhone users

You might have heard the news that Apple slashed the price of the iPhone last Wednesday from $599 to $399 after 69 days when they released it. A lot of iPhone users got really upset (including me) because the price markdown was drastic and really fast. The next day, Steve Jobs sent an open letter on their website saying that he’ll give $100 store credit to all iPhone users. Better than nothing.

@lilacstardust:

the price slash has a catch. you still need to purchase the iphone with a 2 year plan with AT&T. when it becomes available in the philippines, the telco will obviously subsidize it — but to buy the unit “as is” without a plan — the price will still be higher, i surmise. not sure if apple will allow this type of agreement.
