I wanted to feel like a responsible adult who’s new to the workforce so the first thing I did after signing my employment certificate was to apply for a post-paid line. I was actually already a SMART sub back then but through prepaid and the main reason why I stuck to this network was their competitor had an odd billing system which had this thing called “dollar conversion” and it didn’t quite make sense because my bill would fluctuate every month. So budget conscious me killed it and took a risk with a postpaid line with SMART. And a Nokia 3650. OMG, do you remember this phone? It was the phone with the weird circular keypad and despite having an odd layout, I could text really fast on it! 3650 + Addict Mobile reprezzzent!!!

Facebook announces free or discounted messaging services, SMART Communications sole PH telco in program

OK everything’s happening so fast so I decided to just post it in full here. I got this from Nick of SMART not via a press release but, well, via Facebook. Touche? SMART Communications announces availability of Firefox OS smartphones

We never expected these to arrive in Philippine shores so fast, but yes, the Firefox OS phones are finally here c/o SMART Communications. Last month, Firefox OS was rumored to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2013 (that’s 2 days ago) and it appears that these rumors are true. The Firefox OS joins the mobile phone OS wars together with Android, BlackBerry 10, iOS, and Windows Phone 8.

Hello Apple geeks. Well it’s finally here. The iPhone 5 will be available on December 14 2012. I’ve been with SMART for almost 10 years so that’s why I’m endorsing their bid for the iPhone 5 (or any phone that relies heavily on a data plan). Remember, the phone is only half the product.
I’m hoping that they release the LTE versions of the iPhone 5 locally and it would make sense to do so as SMART comes with the tri-band frequency that is compatible with the iPhone 5′s LTE chip. In any case, RESERVE NOW.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is coming to carriers in the Philippines very soon. The estimated target date is this October 16 2012. If you’re looking for a high-end Android based smartphone to quell your holiday gadget lust, the Galaxy Note 2 is definitely a good choice. Knowing that the SRP of the device alone will be in the PHP 30,000+ when it launches, getting it from SMART may be a good choice as the carrier is giving the phone away for free at UNLI DATA PLAN 2000. If you were at the LTE forum today, the biggest news is that SMART Communications is finally taking their LTE service out of closed beta and into commercial availability this coming August 25 2012. There is still no word on official pricing and specific devices (the up and coming iPhone 5 is rumored to have LTE connectivity) but it seems that NTT Docomo, SMART’s partner will be providing the hardware because of the similarity in the spectrum (maybe phones and dongles — who knows?!). Here’s a short list of LTE enabled sites from the beta, which means that more are coming.
So that’s that. August 25 2012. A completely new spectrum. Completely new technology. Huge network overhaul.

SMART Communications recently launched their online store. The deal here is that you can order your iPhone4s (+ other devices) without having to wait in line. In the case of the iPhone, you can choose your color and capacity then have it delivered to your place. This applies to prepaid purchases. Free delivery until June 30 2012.
