Samsung congratulates SMART for LTE Networks at Mobile World Congress 2012 ;)
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at February 29th, 2012Straight from the camera of Jim Ayson, here’s a rather interesting video he took of a Samsung ad on the bridgeway of the convention center for Mobile World Congress 2012. It’s been a year since I was last in Barcelona for the Netphone launch and seeing these photos and videos brings about a tech nostalgia that only a geek can get lucid on.
The irony with MWC ’11 was …
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at February 26th, 2011Despite being the venue for telcos and everything wireless, the irony of it all was that Internet in Barcelona was a tad crappy. I guess that’s what happens when you have 60,000 people trying to connect at the same time. You should have seen the behind the scenes — my blog posts were written in TextEdit and pasted on to WordPress when it finally loaded. I’d wait for the opportune moment for Internet to kick in (c/o trusty Menu Meters) and then press publish. Hence it was next to impossible to upload YouTube videos (I was only able to squeeze in one or two). So now that we’re back in Manila, we have over 150 videos in 24 gigs shot using two Canon S95′s. Andi and I have a bunch of vides to show so I decided to start with an appetizer…
Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play feels pretty good to hold. Hope the games deliver!
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at February 16th, 2011You’ve probably read the news that the XPERIA Play running Android 2.3 will also be a ‘Playstation accredited’ phone. You know what? Even if you aren’t into gaming, the XPERIA Play is actually a really good phone by itself. Huge screen, thin, and it just so happens to be able to play very nice games.
The Sony Ericsson booth had a line of mime-SIMS walking around following strangers and copying what they were doing.
Lighter Moments with Gio Bacareza at MWC 2011
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at February 16th, 2011Day 1: Angry Birds Stuffed Toys and Schwag
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at February 14th, 2011Andi and I walked into Hall 1 to officially start our MWC ’11 sojourn. After ogling after some booth babes (a post reserved for another time), my eyes met a tiny booth with a very familiar bird sitting on the counter.
Yup it’s the ROVIO booth. Rather humble actually. All eyes were on us as we picked up the last plush toy as the others had already been stolen! Sadly the guys were occupied with matters of great importance (they were playing Angry Birds) to answer questions but I’m hell bent on coming back tomorrow for more!
They gave us stickers. I want more. I’m going back tomorrow.
Super Awesome Digital Pins for Mobile World Congress
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at February 14th, 2011The organizers and administration have really cool MWC 2011 pins. They’re on video! Here’s what they look like!
Day 0: The INTEL booth
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at February 14th, 2011Wait, it’s not a booth. It’s a portable office!
Day 0: TOEI is in Mobile World Congress
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at February 14th, 2011Why is TOEI here? Maybe because of this:
Day 0: HP’s “Let’s Do Amazing”
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at February 14th, 2011I really had to take a photo of HP’s ‘Let’s Do Amazing’ tagline. It’s waiting to be meme-ed. On another note, webOS tablet tomorrow!
Day 0: BlackBerry Booth is all PlayBook
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at February 14th, 2011There’s only one thing we want from BlackBerry and that’s the PlayBook. They have it. The last photo shows some guys doing a technical demo before the big day.
Day 0: Samsung unveils Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy S II
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at February 14th, 2011The Samsung booth is huge. They’re showcasing everything with full force. But the main showcase is twofold: the newly updated Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 which puts it head on with the Motorola Xoom (since both are running Android 3.0 Honeycomb) and the Samsung Galaxy S II. More of this at MWC ’11 later!
