Alamid Cafe Xpress inside ROX: My photos suck, but their coffee is amazing
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at January 11th, 2011Alamid Cafe Xpress is located inside R.O.X. in Bonifacio High Street
There are a number of hobbies that can really hook you. For me, there’s the diving and then coffee. You all know about the former. So let’s talk about the latter. Pulling shots is addicting. I’m addicted. I blame the trance-like whirling sounds of the machine and the smell that fills the room when 16 bars of pressure is applied to a freshly ground batch of arabica. Then there’s the frothing of milk and the pouring that dapples the white with the browns of the coffee’s heart. And of course, there’s the taste. It’s a bitterness only an adult can enjoy embroidered with the image of a horse kicking your senses silly.

Pray for his soul
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at December 16th, 2009Earlier, I met up with Karlo for a business meeting in Bonifacio High Street. I wasn’t there when the explosion echoed, but from what my cousin tells me, it was blaring. They saw the body of the poor soul being moved out of the car. I had my camera yet I thought twice if I should take the shot. I took it.
Very sad. Very unfortunate and so close to Christmas. Let’s pray for his soul and for his family.

Limited Edition Manny Pacquiao Nike Apparel
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at April 24th, 2009EDIT: Here’s an updated release of the Pacquiao vs Cotto Trainer 1 shoes!
Wow! I’d like to thank Miles for sending these photos over — the new Manny Pacquiao apparel look really remarkable! The Nike Trainer 1 shoes above will be sold in limited stock with only 49 pairs at P5,209.00. If you’re around town for the long weekend, Nike will be selling these limited edition shoes and tops in their flagship store at Bonifacio High Street on May 2 and 3 starting 12 noon. Party at mag:net after.
If you wish to receive more updates on stuff that I fancy (Nike usually sends me their new product releases ahead of schedule), click on the link below to enter your email address:
Not sure if I’d go for the shoes — too expensive, plus I already have two pairs of Nike+ running shoes (the ones that have a slot for a Built for iPod accelerometer). The shirt and windrunner trainers look fantastic though. Cool.
Crumpler High Street overflowing with Corona and Cheetos
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at February 25th, 2009It’s been almost a week since Crumpler Philippines announced the local chapter of Beer for Bags. Let’s check out some of the photos of beer stacked outside the Cumpler store.
I took these today, after coming from an appointment:
Wow, that’s a loadful of Cheetos! Sadly for those who still are planning on exchanging their beer for bags, most of the stock is gone. I wanted the Maurice messenger bag for my 13 inch MacBook — but that’s gone too.
Unboxing Crumpler Loo Roll with Road Test: Two thumbs up!
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at December 7th, 2008As a niche leader in comfortable bags, Crumpler also produces some of the most bizzare schwag. Thanks to the generosity of Charlie Paw at last night’s PhilMUG party we have the chance to do an official unboxing and and first impression run of the Loo Roll, Crumpler’s tissue roll that doubles as a paint by number coloring pad.
In depth review after the break.

So … when was the last time you bought a Collezione shirt? Me — 1992? :)
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at June 7th, 2008Oh god. When was the last time you bought a Collezione shirt? I’m VERY SURE that at one point in our lives (maybe during the late 80′s, teehee) we owned a Collezione branded tee. Because I guess that was the in thing then: a plain collared polo shirt. Hah! That was nostalgic.
So the nostalgia faded until about last week when I started to see “Collezione C2″ ads being displayed on the blogs. I first thought that Collezione was launching a partnership with the tea drink brand but as it turns out, Collezione C2 happens to be the new division of Collezione that’s well … not stuck in the 80′s really very innovative with keeping up with the times!
Here is a photo of me wearing one of their shirt. Skeptical I was at first but it really fit well when I put it on. The tela isn’t thin and though it isn’t stretchable like my Threadless tees, they’re warm and comfy.
Other than that I haven’t seen more of the designs. More designs here! But this isn’t their new line that will be unveiled on the 11th of June.
Well, if you’re curious to check out Collezione’s new line, there are a series of two events that will be happening next week:
On June 11, Wednesday, 6:00 PM at CAV Restaurant in Bonifacio High Street, Collezione C2’s Creative Director Rhett Eala unveils My Pilipinas the Series. What a neat-o URL www.mypilipinas.org — makes me wonder why nobody had that parked. If you’re interested in coming you can confirm with Sara at 0917-5334624.
If you can’t go, there will be an open exhibit from June 12 to 14 at The Spa @ Bonifacio High Street from 12 noon to 10:00 PM.
* CAV is that wine bar in front of mag:net. The place caught my eye the first time I tried it because they were serving wine ala dispenser! There have been mixed reactions to this from wine lovers because it might “cheapen” the experience as you don’t get a bottle. Customers are given a card which they have to punch into the machine and choose between full glass, half glass and “sample.” Personally, I think the concept is geeky and CAV allows you to appreciate wine if you just want to taste.
