**MIND BLOWN** Toys that come to life with your iPad: Hot Wheels, DC Universe, WWE, Monster High, etc
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at March 31st, 2013You know, every time I walk into Datablitz these days I get more and more tempted to pick up a copy of Skylanders. If you go there often, every branch has a store display of ‘Skylanders’ action figures that are not only toys — but are also integral to the Skylanders video game. When you place an action figure onto a “Portal of Power” (which is simply a Bluetooth enabled NFC device) the character comes to life inside the game. So not only do you get a new character to play with in Skylanders, you also get a collectible toy.

Nokia unveils the Lumia 620, most affordable Windows 8 smartphone; estimated to release below PHP 10,000
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at December 10th, 2012
Everyone wants to give Windows 8 a chance and the best way to do this is to make these metro-inspired devices more affordable for everyone. And that’s precisely what’s so great about the Nokia Lumia 620. If you’ve tried Windows Phone before, you’ll be amazed at how efficient the software works with the hardware. Unlike some Android devices where there are inconsistencies with how both the OS and hardware work together (it gets mighty laggy!), this breed of mobile OS works amazingly well across the board regardless of device.
The Nokia Lumia 620 comes with a dual core Snapdragon processor, dual cameras with support for future NFC implementation.
Sub PHP 10,000 is our guess.
Tech Specs:
OS: Windows Phone 8
• Display: 3.8” TFT WVGA 800×480, ClearBlack
• Memory: 512MB RAM (8GB internal memory, Micro SD support up to 64GB), 7GB SkyDrive cloud storage
• Camera: 5Mpix autofocus, LED flash
• Front Camera: VGA
• Video capture: HD 720p@30fps
• Connectivity: NFC, WLAN 802.11 a/b/g/n 2.4Ghz +5Ghz, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS/A-GPS, Glonass, micro-USB, 3.5mm audio connector (AHJ + WP Controls)
• Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon™ S4 processor with 1 Ghz dual-core CPUs

Sony shows off country’s first 84-inch 4K TV; sells for PHP 1.2 Million
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at October 18th, 2012
You need to see it to believe it folks. Yesterday, Sony Philippines pulled out a number of wildcards from Japan. Apart from featuring the new VAIO Duo 11 and VAIO Tap 20 both running on Windows 8, they were also the first to showcase an 84-inch 4K television which will be made available to the (opulent) public for the holidays. The XBR-84X900 is a wonder that goes (waaaay!) over and beyond the “traditional” 1080p resolution. This 4k TV comes with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 and if those numbers mean nothing to you, it simply means that if you’re watching great blu-ray movies on your 40″ or 60″ LED TV, imagine even better “pop out” quality on a bigger 84-incher.

Samsung Galaxy Camera sells for PHP 23,990; why would you want one?
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at October 17th, 2012
The Samsung Galaxy Camera (PHP 23,990) is a vagabond of sorts — not in the definition that it is impoverished, but because it wanders the thin line between being an Android device and a camera. Usually the definition for an Android phone unsurprising to include a camera but in this case, this device IS a camera.

Silent LED Mutewatch sells for PHP 12,950
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at May 17th, 2012It’s called the Mutewatch because it’s silent. No moving parts, everything digital. The Mutewatch reminds me of the Nike+ bands that got all-too popular because of the running craze back in 2008. I finally got my hands on one, thanks to the fine folks of Digits Trading and I’ve never been so excited to wear a watch. Because, well, I hate watches. This one is geeky, so it’s a different story.

Today: I’m in Manila Bulletin’s Special Supplement for the Department of Tourism
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at May 11th, 2012Manila Bulletin has a special execution today for the Department of Tourism. The 4 pages talk about tourism highlights including hitting 1.148 tourists visiting the Philippines in Q1 of this year. The DOT also discusses growth industries including scuba diving, eco tourism and the development of marinas and national parks (no more mining please!).
My photos and “how to” blog post was replicated (by permission of course, thanks Chato!) under the half page section on the #ItsMoreFuninthePhilippines meme phenomenon.
Coming Soon: More. Regular. Giveaways. Yay.
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at May 8th, 2012Hey geeks! If it’s one thing I’m pleased to announce for 2012, I’ve partnered with distributors to to give away more gadgets to locals who follow this blog. Thanks to you, more than 6 years of writing thousands of posts (thankfully not a lot of them were ramblings!) have given me that oomph to get out there and ask for more things to raffle off. A key learning was that although contests were great for everyone, they were sporadic and unscheduled. A partnership with key distributors would make these contests come more often PLUS they will be first to market c/o A BUGGED LIFE (YAY!!). A lot of the stuff I’ll be giving away will be available first here.
So right now, all i have to say is .. stay tuned! Add me up on Twitter (@jayvee) and Instagram (@jayveef) and yeah on Facebook too… I still don’t have a fan page, I feel weird about creating one to be honest so everything goes through my personal account. ANYWAY, the first wave of giveaways will be announced soon.
Oh look at that PowerMat.. it charges your gadgets without wires through magnetic induction! So geeky.
There is signal underwater! Hands on with the Patima iPhone 4s UW Housing
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at February 20th, 2012UPDATE For a more affordable iPhone 4/4s casing, check out the iDive Site case for only PHP 5,999.00
Photo above: That’s me, doing extreme camwhoring! Shot by Boogs Rosales.
EDIT 3: Have a look at the new Patima housing for the GoPro HERO / HERO2
EDIT 2: Instead of hardware, iOS 5.1 users can download the i-Patima app that lets you use the camera underwater. DOWNLOAD IT HERE.
EDIT: Since the new iOS 5.1 update that changes the way users access the camera from the lock screen, Patima is releasing an adapter that will allow you to continue using the iPhone4s as intended underwater.
Some time ago I got word of a pretty little item that would amaze SCUBA divers and iPhone users. Made in Korea, the Patima underwater housing could withstand pressures up to 300 meters deep. That’s almost 1,000 feet and way way beyond recreational depths. Well I finally got the chance to try it out thanks to Jovic of Splash UW Imaging. Before I continue, note that I am not affiliated with Splash UW Imaging in any way nor do I get anything from the sales of this product.
Let’s begin!

The DOT linked back to my ‘It’s More Fun’ Tutorial!
Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at January 31st, 2012Got home to a big surprise! The Department of Tourism has linked my “It’s More Fun” meme tutorial onto their front page under Fun Stuff! I’m really happy that the blog has been recognized in this way.
The site also links back to other amazing works from fellow netizens as well as official “It’s More Fun” wallpapers, social network avatars, and animated logos. Great work!

Last week I got a glimpse of the new DOT tourism video while at an IMMAP function. Sec. Mon Jimenez was the guest of honor and showed us the 90% completed ‘It’s More Fun’ PH tourism video. All I have to say is that it’s really amazing and something we can be very proud of. The video managed to portray an accurate as well as positive image of our country’s diversity in people and natural resources. It’s so good, people were too engaged to even snap it with their cameras.
It’s definitely more fun in the Philippines! Thanks for the heads up, Corey!=)
