Silent LED Mutewatch sells for PHP 12,950

Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at May 17th, 2012

It’s called the Mutewatch because it’s silent. No moving parts, everything digital. The Mutewatch reminds me of the Nike+ bands that got all-too popular because of the running craze back in 2008. I finally got my hands on one, thanks to the fine folks of Digits Trading and I’ve never been so excited to wear a watch. Because, well, I hate watches. This one is geeky, so it’s a different story.

Today: I’m in Manila Bulletin’s Special Supplement for the Department of Tourism

Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at May 11th, 2012

Manila Bulletin has a special execution today for the Department of Tourism. The 4 pages talk about tourism highlights including hitting 1.148 tourists visiting the Philippines in Q1 of this year. The DOT also discusses growth industries including scuba diving, eco tourism and the development of marinas and national parks (no more mining please!).

My photos and “how to” blog post was replicated (by permission of course, thanks Chato!) under the half page section on the #ItsMoreFuninthePhilippines meme phenomenon.

Coming Soon: More. Regular. Giveaways. Yay.

Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at May 8th, 2012

Hey geeks! If it’s one thing I’m pleased to announce for 2012, I’ve partnered with distributors to to give away more gadgets to locals who follow this blog. Thanks to you, more than 6 years of writing thousands of posts (thankfully not a lot of them were ramblings!) have given me that oomph to get out there and ask for more things to raffle off. A key learning was that although contests were great for everyone, they were sporadic and unscheduled. A partnership with key distributors would make these contests come more often PLUS they will be first to market c/o A BUGGED LIFE (YAY!!). A lot of the stuff I’ll be giving away will be available first here.

So right now, all i have to say is .. stay tuned! Add me up on Twitter (@jayvee) and Instagram (@jayveef) and yeah on Facebook too… I still don’t have a fan page, I feel weird about creating one to be honest so everything goes through my personal account. ANYWAY, the first wave of giveaways will be announced soon.

Oh look at that PowerMat.. it charges your gadgets without wires through magnetic induction! So geeky.

There is signal underwater! Hands on with the Patima iPhone 4s UW Housing

Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at February 20th, 2012

Photo above: That’s me, doing extreme camwhoring! Shot by Boogs Rosales.

EDIT: Since the new iOS 5.1 update that changes the way users access the camera from the lock screen, Patima is releasing an adapter that will allow you to continue using the iPhone4s as intended underwater.

Some time ago I got word of a pretty little item that would amaze SCUBA divers and iPhone users. Made in Korea, the Patima underwater housing could withstand pressures up to 300 meters deep. That’s almost 1,000 feet and way way beyond recreational depths. Well I finally got the chance to try it out thanks to Jovic of Splash UW Imaging. Before I continue, note that I am not affiliated with Splash UW Imaging in any way nor do I get anything from the sales of this product.

Let’s begin!

The DOT linked back to my ‘It’s More Fun’ Tutorial!

Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at January 31st, 2012

Got home to a big surprise! The Department of Tourism has linked my “It’s More Fun” meme tutorial onto their front page under Fun Stuff! I’m really happy that the blog has been recognized in this way.

The site also links back to other amazing works from fellow netizens as well as official “It’s More Fun” wallpapers, social network avatars, and animated logos. Great work!

Last week I got a glimpse of the new DOT tourism video while at an IMMAP function. Sec. Mon Jimenez was the guest of honor and showed us the 90% completed ‘It’s More Fun’ PH tourism video. All I have to say is that it’s really amazing and something we can be very proud of. The video managed to portray an accurate as well as positive image of our country’s diversity in people and natural resources. It’s so good, people were too engaged to even snap it with their cameras.

It’s definitely more fun in the Philippines! Thanks for the heads up, Corey!=)

I’m giving away 3 really epic bags from Crumpler. Join my contest!

Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at October 3rd, 2011

First off, I’d like to thank Charlie for sponsoring this giveaway to the readers. Crumpler has been really generous — they’re giving away three quality bags courtesy of ABL. I’ve been a long time Crumpler user, owning an assortment of bags and accessories (like this branded Crumpler toilet paper). I can attest to Crumpler’s durability, especially during the rainy season. I once had a 12″ messenger bag from Crumpler for my iBook that survived rainfall and being dropped in the mud. True Story.

Before we go on to the contest rules, let me show you the prizes:

Guys, break muna!

Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at February 1st, 2011

Hi folks. Sorry for taking a while announcing the winner. Real life things (i.e. WORK) has been a bit hectic. Give me a few more hours and I will announce the winner of the BlackBerry 3G unit tonight.

On another note, here’s a photo of TheGreatMorinda with her Nokia X3:

And here’s a photo of Francis with his ACER Ferrari One 200.

And here’s Ellen Joy’s Lenovo.

After the RIM contest it seems we have two more sponsors before we wrap up this contest series.

Oh, many of you have asked about the comment policy and why some comments are delayed in approval. The blog is set to moderate comments with certain keywords, first time commenters and posts with too many links. Don’t worry, I have record of all of this. Some were marked as spam but I retrieved them. In any case, please be patient with some comments not appearing. When you see “comment awaiting moderation” it means that I did receive it.

Our final winner for the Nokia X3 Contest!

Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at January 17th, 2011

Hi guys. Did a read through of your entries lat night till this morning. Just one question? What’s with all the Benjamin Button references all of a sudden? =)

Not the winners, but they were funny:

This one was actually funny for a mystery entry from drix:

can someone tell me the tagalog term for TOOTHPASTE?it bothers me.

And OK … harhar

Hoping to win. Next day I check the website and won the Nokia X3. with no comment at all.

And to the one who submitted this entry, naughty boy!

The lady in their logo signals me to keep my mouth shut

And the winner for this entry is “Third.”

A man is looking for a new car. He checked the trunk and bought it.

Very simple. It caught my eye and the rest followed. On behalf of Nokia, thanks to everyone who joined this series. It was really fun!

An Update with the Samsung Contest

Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at December 11th, 2010

Guys, I have over 1,500 entries for the Samsung Shark laptop. Wow. As I previously announced that I will announce the winners tomorrow night, is it OK if you give me more time to sift through the winners? I’ll probably announce the winner on Monday or Tuesday morning, latest. This is also because Sunday night is the Philippine Blog Awards and it would be great if you could come! I heard that sponsors wil be raffling off several neat things as well!

Secondly, this week was supposed to be the “halfway mark” for the contest series. I had planned on ending the year with this contest and resume the raffles by early January since I really won’t have time to judge entries. However, Samsung was really happy with the responses from this week’s contest that they wanted to sponsor another week (!!!) of prizes. We’re still finalizing the prize so again, please bear with me as I try to accomodate everyone for the holidays!

Yay Samsung!
