Noemi and Butch Dado

The caption says:

Noemi Lardizabal-Dado and Butch Dado said their vows and made it clear on Facebook. They’re married.

I got a pleasant surprise today in my Facebook feed. Congratulations to Butch and Noemi for tying the knot! We’re all happy for the two of you and I’m sure that all your online friends wish you the best :)

(Isn’t Facebook just too funny sometimes?) :)

World of Warcraft Board Game

One of my grade school friends brought home an $80.00 gem in the form of World of Warcraft the Board Game. For WoW Online players, WoW:TBG is basically another way to enjoy the WoW gaming experience offline (like we haven’t had enough!).

WoW Board Game

So my friends have transformed ourselves into 5 year olds once more and we’ve been trying to figure out how this game is actually played. As WoW Online players, we’ve kinda gotten the gist of the whole thing as a lot of the references from lore to mechanics stem from the game. A game lasts roughly four to five hours.

In the meantime, what I’ve done was to post photos instead after the jump!

CANON EOS SD Card

I totally forgot to post about this yesterday but if you are a Canon EOS owner and you show your camera to the guys at the Canon booth, they will reward you with a free 128MB SD card. I was number four on the list yesterday. Good luck! Not sure if the promo is reset on a daily basis, but it would be nice to try your luck.

Canon will ask for your name and EOS serial number and your camera will need to make a personal appearance as well. I guess that means any EOS camera, even bought outside the PH will be honored.

All the vendors at Photoworld are selling at 20% off so it may be a good time to purchase that tripod you’ve been putting off. The event happens from February 1 to 5 2008 at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati.

Philippine Internet Commerce Society

So pedicures, a proposed “drinking club”, and modeling with rose petals were but some of the less serious topics discussed at mag:net cafe’s balcony. I’ve uploaded photos of the Philippine Internet Commerce Society’s meet and greet session, the first for this year. You can view the shots on my Multiply page. Tag as you please :)

On a more serious note, a few topics about copywriting and the Internet were brought up. The general sentiment is that it is quite hard to find good writers nowadays. And if you do find good writers, there is a tendency for them to ask higher.

One piece of advice I like to give friends is that if they are looking for good writers, they can start by looking in schools. There are a lot of Filipino students who are very verbose and eloquent, not to mention diligent in delivering copy. As they are still students they can be paid on a part time basis. On their end, this is a very good entry point for the corporate world. Everyone’s happy.

I’ve always wondered how hard it is to find a full time copywriter. If they aren’t freelancing, they probably work for a big name advertising or PR agency. The average salary of a copywriter in the corporate setting is around P16,000 - P20,000 depending on the level of seniority. Of course, if they win an award (like an Anvil or a PALANCA) their market value increases.

Brain fart: are there such things as SEO copywriting awards?

Nike+ Running Widget

Posted in Cool, Geek, Nike on 31/01/2008

Three days ago I said my piece about what people would go through to stay fit. As the year begins I’m trying my best to get back in shape so as an incentive to me, I decided to post my Nike+ running statistics on my blog. If you can’t find it, it is on the right sidebar right before my Adsense widget.

Please cheer for me! The goal is to try to do a minimum of 2.5K runs at least twice a week.
