Got my hands on the Samsung Galaxy Y Netphone Edition. Here’s an unboxing with a bit of commentary. On the side, I actually prefer writing commentary on the photos rather than watermarking it. Makes it more informative. =)
I just turned my Samsung Galaxy S II into a Netphone. Soon, any Android phone can be turned into one.Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at October 13th, 2011
With the Netphone 701 and the Samsung Galaxy Y Netphone Edition out in the market, it seems that next question is rather obvious. What’s next for Netphone and SmartNet? A couple of tech savvy Internet friends have actually been suggesting that SmartNet, the “wonder app” that makes Netphone possible should be available for download so that any Android phone can be turned into a Netphone.
Absolutely brilliant. Definitely makes the fans want more. Sadly, no this is not an official release but a short film of a live action Voltron directed by Alex Albrecht of Diggnation and Totally Rad Show fame.
When a man regains consciousness in a Voltron battle lion after an “accident” he has to decide does he live a few more minutes or try to tell the world what happened… the end is only the beginning.
If this is a tease for more things to come, I wouldn’t be surprised. Something like this is totally up his alley considering all the stuff he’s done for his web shows with Revision3.
ASUS unveiled their latest ultrabook just a few hours ago. Touted as the Zenbook. I can lust after it. For those unfamiliar, the ultrabook is defined as the market segment of Apple’s Macbook Air. These are usually classified having these three features: battery efficient, super light and thin, with solid state storage.
Been using an app called Locate these past few days. Simply put, it’s a localized search service that runs on any Android device. The app is developed by Smart Communications but as it is in the Android Marketplace, you don’t need to be a SMART subscriber to use it. As long as you’re on Android v1.5 and up (which is 99% most likely the case) you can use it.

Hi my name is Jayvee and I’m an alcoholic.
Many months ago I have been struggling with my dependency on alcohol. It was serious. I’d take it in the morning right after waking up. Even after lunch. And after dinner. As you can see, alcohol dependency revolved around a system that’s almost like clockwork.
It has taken a number of interventions from friends to get me off the damn thing once and for all. I admit, at times I do miss the painfully sweet sting once it goes down my mouth but after a while, like all impediments in life, I move on without looking back.
With this epiphany I embrace my newfound self, hopefully a better person. Wiser if not smarter. But more confident to say the least. Where I was once at the precipice looking down into the gaping void of nothingness I have now decided to look up and see the infinite rays of a better tomorrow.
You too can have that same confidence by being alcohol free. Swish is alcohol-free. It is more enjoyable to gargle and it is safe to use everyday. Swish also has SureFresh technology so it kills bad breath causing bacteria on contact giving you the fresh breath that lasts. Today, as you leave the confines of the four corners of your computer screen, it is finally time to re-assimilate yourself into civilization. With newfound confidence, the choice is yours.

For those unaware, Nokia held a contest in the recent weeks for a new default ringtone that will be installed in their new line of smartphones. Aside from the media hype and marketing impact of a global contest with USD $10,000 as prize, it was Nokia’s way of “modernizing” into this new generation of users.
The goal was to create a 24 second ringtone (977kb) that would embody Nokia. The winner is Italian DJ Valerio Alessandro Sizzi who created a Nokia Tune Dubstep Edition. For those unfamiliar, the Dubstep genre has become massively popular in the past few years. Here’s a sample of one of the most popular Dubstep viral videos:
Listen to the Nokia Dubstep Audio File
Do you love it or hate it? Note that this new tune will be installed into ALL new Nokia smartphone devices as the default ringtone. Of course since the file is readily available for download you can install this on any smartphone that supports an MP3 format.
I’m not a car geek. Far from it. So let me tell you how I ended up test driving the new 2011 Ford Explorer. All 3.5L V6 of it.

I found a tiny version of the Apple logo with Steve’s silhouette from the Internet. I think it was from
Leo Laporte’s Twitter account. I forget this guy and now he’s famous. I’m not a graphic designer but churning out the tribute image above took a fraction of a minute on Keynote. New template –> black background –> paste image –> auto center –> add text –> export to images. It made me realize how much we’ve taken for granted what Steve put on the table for people who wanted to be creative but couldn’t because of technical limitations. Now that’s something huh?
If you would like to use this as your wallpaper I have made a bigger 1920 x 1080 version. You can view it here.
