Needing Travel Advice for Singapore – Malaysia Sojourn

Late next month I’ll be off to Singapore for a three day press conference. I will also be taking advantage of this time to take a long needed vacation. I intend to take the bus or train to Kuala Lumpur from Singapore and stay with two good friends who have offered me lodging.

I’m actually looking for travel advice on the traverse from Singapore to Malaysia by train or by bus. How long does the trip take and how much would it actually cost to make the trip?

Hopefully I’ll also be able to meet up with other b5media guys in the persons of Patrick in Singapore and Colbert over at KL.

why are asking how much it will cost? Why can’t you be resourceful and use the internet to find out this information. The internet is a good resource of this information. You have to do your own homework before planning. Duh!

I would not try to get travel advice from Yugatech considering the fact his luggage was lost multiple times so that is why I said you should do your own homework. PS don’t sheesh me.

It takes about 5 hours to get from Singapore to KL by bus. There’s a number of busses plying the route throughout the day. We took the 10pm bus and arrived in KL around 3am. I *think* we took the Transtar coach, premium class. There are only 3 seats in a row and they were very comfortable. Personally, I’d love to try the Aeroline bus

Here’s a good site to give you an overview of the fares and schedules: http://www.journeymalaysia.com/ptasingkl.htm

The train takes longer, around 8 hours (it stops at every station). If you’d really like to take the train, it’s better to take it from KL to SG, rather than from SG to KL. Why? Because the fare from KL is RM68, whereas if you take it from SG, the fare is SG$68. There’s plenty of useful train info over at Seat 61.

Enjoy your trip!

P.s. I haven’t lost any baggage yet.

DUDE! Aeroline bus is the best, I love it. πŸ˜€ I’ll see you in the bus stop if ever. It stops at Corus Hotel in Jalan Ampang, very near KLCC. Let me know when you’re coming so I can prepare. πŸ™‚

i have been transiting through singapore for so many many times in the past 10 years that i have already lost count. i haven’t done that SIN-KL route by bus though.

but one thing i can tell you which made me mobile in singapore for very minimal cost, i always took advantage of the Hop A Bus (i know it is free for the business class SQ tickets, but something like $3/day for holders of SQ tickets, now i am not sure). the bus brings you around the city, you can get off any of the drop off points and take the next bus again for the other destinations good luck.

In addition to Sexy Mom’s comment, the Hippo Bus is another option. It plies 2 routes, has more frequent pick ups and ends later. The MTR is also a good way to get around. Have fun.

kung madalas kang jumingle, take the aeroline kasi may restroom yun. pag wala, parusa because they stop only once for the 4-5 hr trip.

My husband and I will be going to Singapore next month. Although this entry was posted more than a year ago, I found it very helpful still. We will be leaving early December and we haven’t finalized our itinerary yet, but we’re working on it. πŸ˜€
