Umm, does anybody know where I can get this fixed / refurbished, and how much would it cost to do this? Yet another thing I inherited from my father – a Ciro-flex twin lens reflex camera. Made in the USA. Happy father’s day!

  11. Hmmm. A Graflex Ciro-Flex 6×6 TLR (circa 1940).

The lens look cloudy already but I’m sure Mike Santos can find a way to clean it up. You can tell him that Jo Avila recommended him as he used to clean Jo’s cameras back in the day. Note that though the camera is more than half a century old, once fixed up it can take really wonderful photos. :)

  15. if all else fails, why not venture to hidalgo…I’ve seen stores selling vintage cameras and offering to fix/clean old cameras :)

  17. @Jayvee, give a vintage camera a good CLR and it will continue to give you great pictures for another half century (or as long as film is still available)! Though it doesn’t look broken, it’s wise to have it checked for light leaks and the sort. Which reminds me, my foldable 6×4 is due for it’s annual checkup by Mike’s.

@Allan, not all of the stores in Hidalgo do a good job of doing a CLR on cameras. If having it done there, it’s best to get the recommendation of a Hidalgo veteran.

Mike Santos of Picture City, Timog is highly recommended since he will honestly tell you if your camera is still worth saving or simply beyond repair. He’s had prior training with the Mamiya and Hasselblad manufacturers as well. :)

Also, you may want to hook up with Jay Javier as he is very much into vintage cameras. (He has a good collection of fully working russian cams.) He could give you an appraisal on how much your camera is worth (aesthetically, quality-wise and price-wise). Jo Avila, DJ and Anton Sheker know him well.
