Kontera: Every Content Has its Price

As you probably have noticed, I installed Kontera yesterday. For those unfamiliar, Kontera monetizes in-post content by searching for words that have a corresponding value. These words are identified with the double underline.

Advantages of Kontera
Well, the money … especially if your blog belongs to the niche about blogging, mobile phones, laptops, PDA’s and other tech stuff. Include insurance and topics about mesothelioma lawyers and you got yourself a good deal.

Disadvantages of Kontera
It ruins the browsing experience for most. Plus, it makes it harder for other people to copy + paste your content in WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) mode for quotes and sources because it also copies the double underline link.

So, for content-driven blogs I’m quite convinced that Kontera does turn off readers. Which is why I’m trying to figure out how to put them on a conditional basis - like “archives only after one month.” If anyone knows how this is done, I’d appreciate the help. I placed the ad code on my index page, which may be the wrong thing to do.

Stumble it!

I actually really like them, I have about five sites and three blogs I am currently using them on. The reason I like them is that they offer a great product that can and does actually correctly analyze the page, also any time I have a problem they are there to help. I just got a new account manager last month who has already helped me improve my eCPM by 20% which is great for my revenues. I haven’t heard any complaints for my users and in fact most have said that since the relevancy is good with them that in certain situations its better. If a user also wants to copy something he can just turn their ads off from your site for one day by just click the whats this button one of their layers.
