Bubbles Paraiso

Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at June 28th, 2006

bubbles and jayvee.jpg

Today we shot the cover for the next ish of Mobile Philippines. On the cover is Bubbles Paraiso.

What makes this particular shoot a little special for me is that Bubbles used to be my student when I taught NSTP for one semester back in UA&P.

Here’s a little teacher-student moment behind the scenes.

The finished product can be viewed over here. MPH, now known as Mobile Philippines is part of the Top 10 Technology Magazines in the Philippines according to a recent Synovate Survey.

Baby and camera

Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at June 28th, 2006

IMG_5551 (Custom).JPGAs the days lean to July, I’m growing several steps closer to getting the camera I’ve always wanted. I was never a pro when it came to taking pictures but I’ve always felt I had *some* talent in recess for photography.

IMG_5556 (Custom).JPGSo last week, our office photographer left his camera to me while he took a quick trip to the toilet. Camera on hand, and with one of the cutest babies I’ve ever seen (complete with mohawk), I decided to take some shots of Juno’s baby. The one here wrapped on the right is the cutest.

New site layout and a blog tip

Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at June 27th, 2006

The three column layout was always my favorite. At that time though I could not find a three column Relaxation theme. Abe Olandres was able to help me find one. Here is the link to my old theme template.
And for my blog tip – I really encourage bloggers to join us in our blog network meet. At the very least it will spread the link loving and share the traffics on our sites.

So far, here are the guys (and gal) who’ve talked about it, based on my dashboard trackbacks:

Blogging Dinner Aftermath

Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at June 26th, 2006

Running time was from about 5:00PM to past 10:00PM. Restaurants revolved from afternoon coffee in Starbucks Metrowalk to sisig and beer at Aysee’s to Iceberg’s for dessert. It was a great meet considering we only had a week to announce it. Anton, Ka Edong, Markku, Abe, and Vespinoy all came.

They all wrote about their individual experiences in their respective blogs. You can check out some of the pictures from Markku’s photo gallery.

Things I learned:

1. Masarap pa rin ang Aysee’s
2. Single si Abe. Apply na kayo, blogger gals!
3. A 50mm lens can do wonders
4. Tsismis outweights SEO

Thanks to Markku’s wonder dSLR (yes the wonder of 50mm lenses), he took one of my best portraits. I hope to borrow it for use in blogging profile pictures. (Hope its ok!)

In return, I took one for him:

Naks, gwaping! Most pictures can be found here.

Revisiting iBlog 2 Registration

Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at June 25th, 2006

You know its quite funny when the last few registrants of the second iBlog summit are all from the USA. The fact that they’re all spam too makes it even 2x funnier.

If you could only eat one brand of burger …?

Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at June 23rd, 2006

I’m adding a new poll. The previous one was pretty lame.

If you could eat only one type of burger for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I’m definitely going for Wendy’s. The Bacon Mushroom Melt has never failed me when I needed a temporary respite from this world filled with trials and tribulations.

EDIT: Speaking of burgers, you may want to check out the most expensive hamburger in the world, which costs USD $124.50 with tax.

At about 5 1/2 inches across and 2 1/2 inches thick, the mound of meat is comprised of beef from three continents — American prime beef, Japanese Kobe and Argentine cattle.

What type of restaurant serves this?

Update on local airport security

Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at June 22nd, 2006

I was watching a local news feature yesterday. Apparently local airport security are now banning several personal effects from being boarded into airplanes. Some of which include:

Golf balls
Billiard balls
Baseball Bats
Perfume

Apparently these items may potentially cause danger to passengers. The balls can be used to hurl as projectiles, the baseball bats can crack heads and the perfume bottles can hide deadly chemicals like Anthrax and Pink by Nanadabary.

These are very good efforts. However, I think it is not enough! The airport security must ban people from wearing shoes, especially the stilleto ones that can potentially pierce a person’s jugular. Security must also ban luggages and all forms of baggage, because you never know what’s inside. They should also ban laptops and mobile phones – I hear you can control a missle bay with the press of a button from a laptop. Mobile phones can be used to call in terrorists too. Security should eventually ban people from entering the airport, because people are the main cause of airway hazards like plane crashes, hijacks, and acts of terrorism.

I believe strongly in this and I hope you do too.

GAME! Issue 3 coming soon

Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at June 21st, 2006

We’ve been working hard to make issue 3 the tipping point for GAME! This means that the general look and feel should be apparent as the country’s online community magazine. More than 50% of the magazine is focused on local online gaming.

We have also added a small anime section. This is because of the FGD formula [gamers] = [watch anime].

This issue will be out in a few days.

B5media and co-branding with Fox

Posted by Jayvee Fernandez at June 20th, 2006

Here’s news from the blogosphere. Our network has just gotten into a co-branding agreement with VIP Fans Club to produce and promote content, and give away neat prizes. These are entertainment channel blogs so I’m waiting for the day that we do some technology channel tie-ups with Microsoft, Apple, and the other big tech companies. Only time will tell…

As of today, we are partnering with VIP Fan Clubs to produce co-branded blogs for Fox Media’s TV shows. The initial test run is just 4 shows, but we are confident that the initial 4 will let us figure out the best way to cross-promote the blogs from both sides of this deal.

The point is to provide high quality daily content for passionate fans of the shows. Inside information. Exclusive deals. Discounts on merchandise. The whole 9 yards.

The first 4 shows are 24, Bones, Prison Break and Family Guy.
